Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the sacred 12 Joytirlinga of the Lord Shiva, situated on the bank of Narmada River in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh on the Mandhata Island. The Island is natural shape like a Om “ॐ”, which represent the cosmic sound and the essence of the universe. 

At Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, there are two most important temple, one is Omkareshwar and another is Mamleshwar (Amareshwar) Temple, it is lies on the southern bank of the Narmada River. It is said that the Yatra of the Omkareshwar is completed when we visited both of temple.

The temple attract thousands of the devotees during Mahashivratri and Shravan, when the special prayers and celebrations are held.

Mamleshwar Temple

Mamleshwar Temple is also known as the Amareshwar Temple, situated on the southern bank of the holy Narmada River, opposite the Omkareshwar Temple which lie on the Mandhata Island. It holds a great religious importanr because it is considered that the yatra of the Omkareshwar is incomplete without visiting the Mamleshwar Temple.

The Mamleshwar mean “The Immortal Lord” which highlight Lord Shiva eternal and indestructible nature and it is believe that the divine energy of the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is spiritually divided between Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar, making both temple equally sacred.  

Shree Siddhanath Temple

Shree Siddhanath Temple is one of the ancient and spiritually significant hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva,  situated on the Mandhata Island near Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga. The temple is believed to be oldest surviving monuments in the region.

Ekatma Dham (Statue of Oneness)

Ekatma Dham is the towering statue “Statue of Oneness” is dedicate to “Adi Shankaracharya” the great 8th century Indian philosopher and saint who played a vital role in unifying Hindu thought through the philosophy of Advaita Vedanmta. Ekatam Dham stands as a symbol of ekatmata, the idea of oneness of the soul, society and nation. 

The height of the tower is about 108 foot tall, statue stand on 54 foot pedestal, support by a 27 foot lotus base which symbolising purity, spiritual awakening and the intrinsic unity of existence. The design and construction of the monument carried a great traditional symbolism with modern engineering. The statue serves as a powerful “Message of Unity”, not only for the human but for whole global harmony and cultural dialogue.

Omkareshwar Dham

Omkareshwar Dham is a major multipurpose project dham built on the Narmada River, near the holy town of Omkareshwar. It is one of the important part for the Narmada Valley Development Project which aim to utilizing the river water for power generation, irrigation and water management. 

The dam has feature like “concrete gravity dam” mean it relies on its own weight to resist the pressure of water. The length of the dam is about 950 meter and high is about 53 meter, it was nearly constructed between 2003 and 2007. The area of the dam is covered with a hills and Narmada River, become a scenic attraction for the visitors.
