Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva, were the Vishwanath meaning the “Lord of the Universe“.  It is located on the bank of the Ganga River in the ancient city Varanasi Uttar Pradesh. 

Kashi is believed to be the internal city of Lord Shiva, because he personally blesses devotees here and whisper the sacred “Taraka Mantra” to soul at the time of death to free from the cycle of rebirth.

The Jyotirlinga here symbolizes shiva as the supreme ruler and protector of all creation, the Kashi Vishwanath also a sacred well called “Gyan Vapi” (Well of Knowledge). 

The Temple has a long and turbulent history, because the temple was destroyed and rebuilt multiple times due to invasions and political changes. The current structure of the temple was built in 1780 CE by Rani Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore (Great devotee of Lord Shiva).

Dashashwamedh Ghat

Dashashwamedh Ghat is one of the most famous and spiritually ghat, located on the bank of Ganga River in Varanasi close to the Kashi Viswanath Jyotirlinga. It is considered as the main ghat of the kashi and it is a centre point for religious, cultural and social life in Kashi. 

Dashashwamedh Ghat is well known for the Ganga Aarti which takes place in every evening after the sunset. The Aarti is performed by the group of priests dressed in traditional attire, who are chant Vedic mantras and offers fire lamp to the Ganga River. 

Manikarnika Ghat 

Manikarnika Ghat is one of the oldest and spiritually powerful ghats of Varanasi, located on the bank of Ganga River, It is renowned as the fire at Manikarnika were burn 24/7 and estimated that at about 100 dead bodies were burn every day. It belive that if we our cremated (Antim Sanskaar) on Manikarnika Ghat, so we are free from the cycle of birth and rebirth. 

Manikarnika Ghat stands as the spiritual heart of Varanasi’s belief system. It teaches acceptance, detachment and the eternal nature of the soul, making it one of the most profound and meaning place of Kashi. 

Assi Ghat

Assi Ghat is one of the most important and serene ghats of Kashi, located at the southern end of the city where the Assi River meet Ganga River. Assi is known for its calm atmosphere and holds deep spiritual, cultural and historical significance. 

Assi Ghat is more relaxed and less crowded as compare to the Manikarnika and Dashashwamedh Ghats. It is favorite spot for boat rides and allowing visitors to enjoy panoramic views of the Ganga and other Ghats. Assi Ghat plays an important role during festivals such as Mahashivratri, Dev Deepawali and Kartik Purnima, when the ghat is beautifully decorated with lamps. 

Shree Annapurna Mandir

The Temple is dedicate to the Goddess Annapurna, the deity of food, nourishment and abundance. The Word Anna comes from the Sanskrit meaning “Food” and Purna Meaning “Complete“, Symbolizing the Goddess as the giver of food to all living beings.  

The Temple holds the great importance for devotees who believe that worshipping Goddess Annapurna ensures that their home is never deprived of food and prosperity. Many of the pilgrims pray here for relief from hunger, poverty and hardship. 

Shri Satyanarayan Tulsi Manas Mandir

The Temple is dedicate to Lord Rama, located near Durga Kund and close to Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi. The temple is well known for its strong connection to Goswami Tulsidas, the great saint, poet who composed the Ramcharitmanas. 

The Temple holds special significance during festivals related to Lord Rama, such as Ram Navami, Vivah Panchami and Hanuman Jayanti. On these occasions, the temple hosts recitation of the ramcharitmanas, bhajans, discourses and cultural program that attract devotees from different parts of the country.
