Coorg

The official name of the Coorg is Kodagu, popularly known as the “Scotland of India”. It is a picturesque hill station famous for its coffee plantation, misty hills, lush green forests and rich cultural heritage.  Coorg is located in the south-western state of Karnataka, India.

Coorg also known as the “Coffee capital of India” because it is the largest coffee growing region in India, at about 30% to 35% of India total output. The region mainly cultivated cultivates two popular varieties, Arabica and Robusta. Both of the are export globally and this large scale production made Coorg a central hub of India coffee Industry.

The Culture of the Coorg is unique and different from rest of Karnataka. Local people are known as the Kodavas, which having there own martial tradition, hospitality, attire and customs. 

Festivals such as Puthari (harvest festival) and Kailpodh (celebrating weapons) and this show their deep connection with nature, agriculture and warrior heritage.

It features a small temple dedicate to Goddess Kaveriamma where the thousands of pilgrims come to take blessing from Kaveri and their is a holy tank, known as the Kundike mark is the origin point of Kaveri River.

Bhagamandala is a place where the three rivers Kaveri, Kannike and Sujyoti meet together and this meet point known as “Triveni Sangama”. It is surrounded by lush greenery, hills and peaceful rural landscape. The main attraction is the Bhagandeshwara Temple, which is dedicate to Lord Shiva.

Nagarhole National Park also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park, located in the Kodagu and Mysuru districts of Karnataka and it is the part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. the park is rich in biodiversity and offers visitors a chance to experience nature at its wildest.

Nagarhole is home to a wide variety of wildlife animals like elephants, tigers, leopards, deer, and wild dogs. It is especially famous for the asian elephants. Birdwatchers can also spot numerous species of birds, which makes a perfect paradise for nature enthusiasts.

Tadiandamol Peak

Tadiandamol Peak is the highest mountain peak in Coorg and the third-highest peak in Karnataka, standing at an high elevation of about 1,748 meters. It is one of the popular destination for trekking, adventure and nature views.

The peak is surrounded by lush forests, rolling grasslands, and mist-covered hills. The trek to Tadiandamol is easy, making it suitable for beginners as well as experienced trekkers. The trekking is usually started from the base which is near the Nalknad Palace and the path is filled with streams, dense vegetation, and open meadows.

Iruppu Falls is one of most scenic waterfalls, nestled in the Brahmagiri Hills of Coorg near the Karnataka-Kerala border. It is located approximately 48 km from Madikeri and is a popular destination for nature lovers, trekkers, and pilgrims alike.

The water is coming from a height of about 170 feet and creating a breath-taking curtain of water. it is surrounded by dense forests and lush greenery. 

Mandalpatti​

Mandalpatti popularly known as Shreerangapattana Peak, It is a breathtaking hilltop famous for its panoramic views of the Western Ghats. Mandalpatti offers visitors a serene escape into nature, with rolling hills, mist-covered valleys, and endless stretches of green coffee and spice plantations.

The spot is ideal for adventure enthusiasts and photographers, especially during sunrise and sunset, when the landscape is bathed in golden light. Access to Mandalpatti is usually via a jeep ride from the base, as the terrain is rugged and steep. The journey itself is part of the experience, winding through forest trails, streams, and scenic viewpoints, giving visitors a sense of adventure and exploration.

The area is also a haven for birdwatchers, as many migratory and local birds can be spotted near the reservoir.

Omkareshwara Temple​

Omkareshware Temple is historic and spiritual temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Madikeri, it was built in 1820 by Linga Rajendra. The temple is surrounded by a peaceful atmosphere with a large water tank in front that reflects the temple beauty on it. The area is calm for prayer and relaxation, especially during early morning and evening.

Coffee Plantation often called the “Coffee Capital of India”, nestled in the rolling hills of Western Ghats known for producing high quality coffee in India.  It is the back bone of India economy because 30 % to 35 % of coffee is produce here and export all over the World.
